Introducing the Qbit OS

Qbit OS is a free, easy to use linux OS. It is
designed for users who do simple daily tasks such as browsing the web, email,
listening to music, office work, graphics work and lots more!
Try it out for free and risk-free!:
You can try out the Qbit OS risk free by trying out a Live CD. A live CD is
the OS burned directly on to an optical disc (CD / DVD / Bluray) or USB drive.
The Live CD runs the OS directly from the CD/DVD or USB drive (the preferred
eco-friendly way) without installing anything on your hard drive (it does not
even need a hard disk to run!). So you can try out the OS risk free, without any
changes to your computer. When you are finished, just shut down, remove the live
CD and everything is back to normal!
Interesting features:
- The Qbit OS is so efficient, it starts up within 50 seconds even with
all softwares are pre-installed. MSWindows becomes noticeably slow even after a
clean install with only MS Office installed.
- The Qbit OS is so small, it can be installed onto a USB drive and be
your portable OS!
Minimum hardware requirements:
- CPU : Pentium 166MMX and up
- RAM : 256 MB physical RAM
- min 200MB USB drive or CD/DVD RW drive
- Hard Drive : None required
Directions for installing on to a USB drive (The suggested eco-friendly way,
but requires BIOS that can start via USB):
- Download Qbit OS ISO file
here.
- Open unetbootin and click on "Diskimage" > "ISO" > and locate the Qbit
OS ISO file
- At the bottom, select the drive that is your USB drive and press OK.
- Restart and enter BIOS to bootup with USB
- Save BIOS settings and boot up using the Live CD.
Directions for burning on to a CD/DVD:
- Download Qbit OS ISO file
here
- Burn it on to a CD / DVD using an image burning software (eg. Nero
burning ROM). Please make sure to "burn image" and not burn file, so you
would not just get a single ISO file on the disk.
- Restart and enter BIOS to boot up with CD/DVD
- Save BIOS settings and boot up using the Live CD.
Note: because the Live CD has to be tested on many types of desktops, there will
be some setting to choose before the OS completes startup to desktop. This will
not happen on the EPC because the settings are set.
- During initial bootup, it will ask which type of "Puppy" to load. Just
press "Enter"
- Choose your keyboard layout
- Choose "Xorg", when asked which video to select
- Choose which resolution best fit your monitor
To connect to the internet (requires "always on, no password required" ADSL)
- Click on "Connect" icon on desktop
- Click on "Eth0" and should detect a network
interface (If non is
detected, sorry, that means it is not supported by the OS at this time. It
would not have this problem on the EPC because the settings would be set)
- Click on "Auto DHCP"
- Click on "Done", when the detection finishes
